EATING OUT

Select the right holiday cottage in Pembrokeshire and you won't have to concern yourself with the chores of a self catering holiday. There are a number of pubs and restaurants in Pembrokeshire near our holiday cottages, some even within walking distance of the cottages. Neighbouring Ceredigion also provides additional hostelries for guests at our cottages to enjoy. Between them they offer a diverse variety of food, from 'a la carte' meals to good value pub lunches. Previous guests at the Pembrokeshire Courtyard Cottages have enjoyed good food and a warm welcome at the following. Please remember that whilst we endeavour to keep our recommendations up to date, we would suggest that you check with any of the establishments for availability / menus etc. prior to attending.

RESTAURANTS

Hammet House, Llechryd - A small country hotel just a 2 minute walk further up the private tree lined drive from our holiday cottages. Lounge & library bar. Restaurant and bar menus. Recently under new ownership, this used to be known as the Castell Malgwyn Hotel, but has undergone an extensive re- furbishment.

Cnapan Restaurant, Newport, Pembrokeshire - approx 15 – 20 minute drive from our self catering accommodation. Excellent selection of evening meals & fantastic hospitality, also light lunches.

PUBS / RESTAURANTS

Seven Stars Pub, Llechryd, Pembrokeshire - This welcome addition to the village opened a couple of years ago, a short stroll from our holiday cottages, it has recieved some very complimentary coments from many of the guests who've stayed at Pembrokeshire Courtyard Cottages. The owners are extremely welcoming.

Nags Head,Abercych, Pembrokeshire - 4 miles approx. Recommended in the "Good Pub Guide” 2005.Typically old fashioned country pub, with beams, stone floors & wood burner.For those who truly like 'Eating out' there is a riverside "beer garden” and separate children’s play area.Lovely atmosphere. They serve wonderful Sunday lunches and evening meals.There is a good selection of wines and real ales. Watch out for the large portions !

The Pendre Inn, Cilgerran, Pembrokeshire - 25 minute walk from your cottage door, along the river Teifi and through the beuatiful Gorge to Cilgerran village, or alternatively a 2-3 mile drive by road. Lovely 14th Century Inn, located in the heart of the village. A warm welcome. Open for lunches and evening meals Wednesday to Saturday and for Sunday lunch. Always a good selection of real ales on offer. Our guests never fail to comment on the excellent hospitality and / or the good value home cooked food. Closed Tuesday & Sunday evenings.

The Ferry Inn,St. Dogmaels, Pembrokeshire - 4 miles from our holiday cottages. Good selection of pub food, plus some exceptional meals on the 'specials board'. Superb views over the Teifi estuary from the very large deckedarea at the back of the pub. They are very dog friendly and allow well behaved dogs on the decking - even three large German Shepherd Dogs!

The Royal India Restaurant, Cardigan - 3 miles from the Pembroekshire Courtyard Cottages – Floating restaurant, with breathtaking views of the river Teifi estuary..Fantastic selection of Indian dishes.

Abduls Indian Restaurant & Take Away, Cardigan - 3 miles away. Traditional Indian cuisine. Often features in the visitors books of all four of our cottages.Excellent quality food and service from this award winning restaurant.

The Canteen, Newport, Pembrokeshire.

The Old Sailor, Pwllgwaelod - on Dinas Head, approx 30 minutes drive. Superb west facing location to enjoy sunsets over the bay.This beautifully renovated pub offers local fresh fish & seafood on the menuour guests recommend the crab salad, although personally we love the croissant basedBread and Butter Pudding - superb !Lunchtime & evening restaurant menu. Dog friendly outside only - dogs are welcome on the grassy outside seating area.

The Sloop Inn, Porthgain - Probably the oldest and most famous pub in Pembrokeshire (pre- dates 1743). Open all day every day 09:30 – 23:00 hrs, lunch & evening menus, which often include local seafood. You can choose between the quaint, historic interior or the suntrap patio area outside. Dog friendly outside - dogs are welcome in the patio area.

Carpenter’s Arms, Llechryd - We have received mixed feedback from our guests about this establishment.It appears to be neither child nor dog friendly.

CAFES

Fronlas, Market Street, Newport - Homemade food served all day. Very warm, dog friendly welcome awaits you - again even happy with 3 large, but well behaved German Shepherd dogs outside.

There is a small grocery shop and petrol station in Llechryd and a 24 hour Tesco store in Cardigan

Llwynhelyg Farm Shop -8 miles north of Cardigan - Specialise in the best quality local and Welsh produce.Hamper delivery available.

Yum Yum -Visit Cardigan's old-fashioned sweet shop.
