Access Statement for Secret Cottage

Click images to enlarge Our self catering holiday cottages are located at the end of the private tarmac drive which leads to the Castell Malgwyn Hotel, Llechryd. There are “speed ramps” located along this drive. There is a dedicated free car parking area for our guests in front of the Courtyard cottages. This is a flat gravel surfaced area. Motor vehicles are NOT permitted beyond the stone gate pillars in to the Courtyard itself.

Main entrance to this holiday cottage is approximately 60m from the car parking area. This is a level walk over a loose gravel surface.
There are 2 steps up - maximum rise 170mm, minimum step depth 350mm in to the cottage. Entrance door clearance -1050mm.
Accommodation is over two floors.

Ground floor Accommodation

The narrowest doorway on the ground floor is 710mm wide leading from stairs to downstairs shower room. Shower 760mm x 900mm, w.c and pedastal hand basin
Kitchen/dining/living area on one level. Natural lighting & additional reading lighting. Remote TV, DVD & video controls. The sitting area has an arm chair and two and low “deep” set sofas. The dining table has “high back” chairs.
The kitchen has work surfaces & appliances fitted at conventional heights 910mm.
Light switches at conventional heights and power points at 1.2m.

First floor Accommodation

Original narrow L-shaped turning staircase, no hand rail, leading to first floor landing area. 12 stairs - maximum rise 200mm, minimum tread depth 240mm.
Low beamed doorway – height 1710mm & width 710mm to master bedroom.
All other doorways on first floor - clearance width 740mm, height 1960mm
Shower room with WC, Pedestal hand basin - height 800mm. Step up 240mm into square shower cubicle - dimensions 710mm x 710mm.
BT payphone (out going calls only, accepts 10 pence pieces) situated on landing.
mobile phone networks are unreliable in the cottages
service dogs welcome • Public transport bus stop in Llechryd village approximately 1000m walk (on the flat) from the Courtyard.
