2004 River Cottage Guest Comments

We have included every comment from our visitor's book - without any editing.

Bosserts from S. Africa (Dec'03). My wife and I had an amazing experience. Wales is the most beautiful place ever ! Andrew & Nicole from Australia (Dec'03). Great location for New Years. Very comfortable units & lots of peace and quiet.

Ben & Angie Garrad (Jan 04) Had a great New Year with friends & family. Watch out for the Welsh neighbours they now how to party too ! Thank you very much.

I & G Evans (March'04). Had a wonderful time with all the family - Thank you. Diolch yn fawr

Barnards (April'04). 2nd visit to River cottage, love the new kitchen, sofa & bathroom !! Great now you can see the river also !! Lovely to relax again & enjoyed all the beaches again, especially Penbryn. Mwnt good beach, also Poppit & Newport. Candle workshop in the hills good for presents etc. Local pub pretty good food – Carpenters Arms. Solva great for art shops. River walk to Cilgerrran lovely, although a fair trek to the castle. Thank you & can’t wait to see the Courtyard once all the refurbishments are completed !! See you soon, we'll be back.

Gordens (June'04). Fabulous break. Facilities excellent. Great walks, fishing & BBQs. Great day on beach. Kids really enjoyed exploring the houses & estate. We will be back soon. Thanks for everything.

F & V Higgins (July'04). I have enjoyed the peace and quiet, lovely location. Spacious accommodation, comfortable bed and sofas. We came here tired and fed up. We're leaving feeling happy and relaxed. We will be back. There is a wonderful cream tea to be enjoyed at Henllys Farm, Felindre Farchog, Newport, Pembs. They're open 2until 5 everyday. Sunday lunch is on offer and even a glass of very nice wines.

Heidi & Nick (July'04). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delightful cottage. Lovely surroundings and location. We look forward to returning soon - many thanks.

J. Kerr (July'04). What a wonderful place, we were a large party had Courtyard House too, (wow) everyone had a great time – even the teenagers. Mwnt is our favourite beach, the Dolphins never disappoint us. Horseriding on the beach at East Nolton was fantastic. Oakwood was a good day out too! A warm welcome & great food can be found at the Carpenters Arms ! We will definetly be back often !

Ellis family (Aug'04). This place is great especially for babies or small kids because there aren’t any stairs and the sitting room is big. Mwnt was the best beach and the steep walk up from the cliff is fun but not suitable for flip flops!!! Doing a boat trip in Newquay is good but its more likely to see dolphins on the 2 hr trip as we found out. They were really close and we also saw a seal. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t hot all the time but it was still great. The coastal path walk from Llangranog is worth doing for the views. Good tea room at the Bee + Honey farm near Newquay. The selection of films is great and great especially for rainy days not that there were many. The 5 changer CD player was brilliant and good for parties. Mwnt is by far the best beach. We will definitely try to come back. A brilliant holiday for the whole family - Mwnt was definitely the best beach & the climb to the top of the hill and the view of the dolphins was a real treat. – Table football, table tennis all great fun. Llangrannog also provided a lovely secluded beach & fantastic coastal walk. We enjoyed a really great holiday here – the other residents were really friendly so there was a nice atmosphere in the Courtyard. Would recommend the nearby butterfly farm for moth fans. Mwnt probably the best beach, although Aberporth and Llangranog also nice. Good fun.

Watts & Pandit families from London, Bombay, Cardiff & Boston, USA. 4 to 83years old.(Aug'04). Rained, rained, rained and rained again. Bought half a sheep (Welsh organic) at Hook Meats at Haverfordwest which fed us for most of the fortnight (very good quality). Kids loved the videos and games and Mwnt and Penbryn beaches. 4 yr old even walked the 6 miles from Poppit to Moylegrove – very picturesque. Nice cheese found in Rosebush (the goat was esecially tasty). Good picture gallery nearby (Linda Norris' work). Also good pottery by Joe Finch near Aberporth. Cottage comfortable and well equipped. Interesting architecture but not 100% convinced about the style of conversion and use of materials eg. modern double glazing (doing up old buildings is my hobby). In all, a very enjoyable fortnight in spite of the inclement weather. Great walks along the river to Cilgerran castle and the nature reserve. Mary's ice cream is quite delicious and we are even developing a taste for Lava bread.

Barnard family (Sept'04). Great to be back & more improvements ! New covers, tables, dishwasher – wow! Have Tanya and Dylan won the lottery? Lovely weather - we are lucky looking at the height of the river & other comments! Dogmeals, Newport, Tresaith all re-visited nearly swam - did actually. Nice holiday. Easter please ? but will ring you. Thanks D & T & whatever next?

Mr. & Mrs. Forde (Sept'04). Enjoyable holiday, was able to see the Kingfisher twice whilst we were out walking along the river. Comfortable cottage, with plenty of space.

Simpson & Sheppard families & Zippy (Sept'04). Had a lovely relaxing weekend. The meals at the hotel are very good value and delicious !! Lovely walks!!

Mr & Mrs Smith (Nov'04). Beautiful cottages in fantastic surroundings. Lots of space & comfort, definitely coming back again. Cilgerran castle worth a walk to, & village pubs very friendly, good food @ the Pendre Inn.

Mr & Mrs Allen (Nov'04). Superb cottages, wonderful location. You have plenty of space, well equipped and comfortable accommodation. Carpenters are good basic food. Pendre Inn superb food, very friendly. Hotel next door v.g. Places to visit for lovely scenery – Cardigan Bay, Aberporth & Mwnt. The Cliff Hotel does lovely food and tremendous scenery. Will definitely be back.
