2006/7 Courtyard House Guest Entries

We have included every comment from our visitor's book - without any editing.

The cottges were closed for major restoration work from January to December 2006. Thank you all for your kind comments. We are delighted to see that you have enjoyed your time in Pembrokeshire, and particularly at the Pembrokeshire Courtyard Cottages.

Leeburne Clements & Stephen Probert (December 2006). We’ve noticed we’re the first visitors since the refurbishment and you’ve done an incredible job. The courtyard is a stunning house that is simply breathtaking on arrival. The facilities you have provided exceeded our expectations the games room went down a treat, We have only a small tip you’ve provided lots of kitchenware but the only tiny improvement we could think of is having a bigger toaster a 2 slice toaster for 10 was like a production line. Many Thanks Leebune & Steve NOTE FROM OWNERS:The cottage is supplied with 2 toasters (a 4 slice & a 2 slice), but for some reason on this occasion one of the cleaners had put the second toaster in one of the cupboards. Apologies.

Lisa Moore & Gary Van Der Gaag (December 2006) Had a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing break. Accommodation was exceptional. We hope to return and would recommend it to anyone. Excellent video library.

7 adults + 2 4 yr olds (New Year Jan 07) Had a fantastic time – swimming at Aberporth on New Years day + body boarding. Lovely meal at y polyn in Capel Dewi. Lots of walks + runs. Watching the flood nearly happen again then recede. NOTE FROM OWNERS: These guests whitnessed the normal fluctuations in the river level for that time of year. Due to freak weather conditions the river rose by an exceptional 29 feet above its normal level which resulted in three of the four cottages flooding in 2005.

Matthew & Venise Brindley (Jan 07). Had a fantastic break, Courtyard House is wonderful. Surroundings beautiful. Would definitely love to come back again.. Thank you.

Glenn & Emma. (Jan 07).Thank you, had a relaxing wonderful break. Time went far too quickly. Super accommodation with everything you could possibly need. Will definitely be back and it will be highly recommended!

Phil, Gwenda, Meirion, Margaret, Keith & Jenny (Feb 07). This is a very interesting building which has proved to be an excellent venue for our annual reunion. The cottage is very warm and comfortable, making for an experience which we would willingly repeat. The perfect weather added to our overall enjoyment of the weekend. We can recommend the Castell Malgwyn Hotel for Sunday lunch. The Carpenters Arms lived up to its reputation as a place to avoid! Hope to return to the Courtyard one day soon.

Sarah & Tim Hartley (Feb 07). We’ve had a fantastic time. The Courtyard is a great place to relax in beautiful surroundings. We recommend the coastal walk from Poppit Sands which gives fantastic views. Mwnt beach is stunning and well worth a visit. We enjoyed the walk along the river Teifi and we were made to feel welcome at the Pendre Arms (although their kitchen is closed at the moment for refurbishment). We will definitely return and will be recommending the cottage to friends and family. Thank you.

Caldwell & McGuire families (Feb 07). We have had a fantastic stay here at Courtyard & River cottages. The cottage is very warm and comfortable with everything you need for a family holiday. Beautiful setting and great location for the coast. The kids loved exploring, great place for hide and seek. We’d love to return one day. Thanks.

Dan & Jessica, Alfie & Sam (Feb 07). Had a lovely stay. The first night was worrying due to the excessive noise from the hotel until early hrs. The boys loved the cottage as well as us. Very welcomley and Lee made us most welcome. Super accommodation. We needed longer. Next time will book earlier. Many thanks.

Ramsdens (Feb 07). Beautiful house, well equiped, more T-towels would be useful!

Evans (March 07). Came for father’s 80th birthday – brilliant weekend, relaxed & peaceful but also enough for all 5 kids to keep occupied. Beaches fantastic, pubs great, house had enough for party for 22 people. Beautiful cottage, well equipped for a large party. Very quiet and peaceful. Useful info folder etc. Lounge was a bit worrying with young children due to the split level. Very nice break !

Mr & Mrs Oliver ( March 07). Thank you for a truly relaxing time in a such a beautiful cottage for our honeymoon stay. Enjoyed a lovely meal at hotel next door & a beautiful beach walk at Mwnt. Will def be back in the future !

The Rotinoon family (March 07). This is a lovely house in a beautiful setting. The web site doesn’t do the house justice. Fabulously equipped and appointed. Perhaps thermostats in the rooms to turn the heating down a bit. Whole place had a great feel to it – a real tonic. NOTE FROM OWNERS: The central heating is entirely under the guest's control. The boiler can be set for on / off at any time(s) throughout the 24hr clock and offers various heating levels, plus each individual radiator has its own thermostatic control from 0 -5. We were awarded the 'Exceptional' grade from the WTB for our heating. The boiler is very user friendly, but there are instructions mounted on the wall next to it for anyone requring assistance.

Thomas family (April 07). Great house & fantastic beds – renewed our faith in rental houses ! A great time had by all.

Klimach family (April 07). Lovely cottage, walks, scenery & weather – what more could we ask. We had a great holiday.

Jones (April 07). Lovely house, slate and wood really lovely, good heating system ! Furniture comfortable with excellent seating arrangement. It is nice to have such a good supply of crockery and kitchen ware, the house is really well stocked, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Williams / Jones family (April 07). Actually slept in the Secret cottage – very nice. Spent most of our time in the Courtyard House with our friends and family for our dear friend’s 50th Birthday Party. We have thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. Great place for a party in such wonderful surroundings. Loved both houses – Can’t wait to come back. Would love to spend Xmas here. Thank you.

Kelley + Chris James (April 07). Amazing house and facilities. Enjoyed a lovely meal at the hotel next door. Beautiful beach at Poppit Sands and Llangranog. Spent a lovely afternoon at New Quay – a pretty coastal town. Riverside walk to Cilgerran castle very pleasant. We hope to be back – Thank you – xxx.

The Christies & The Lutons. (April 07)What a fantastic place !! Great location + superb accommodation – great for a family holiday. Very dog friendly with gorgeous scenery & plenty to do. Thank you so much for a wonderful week.

Gould (April 07). Had a fantastic family weekend away, the weather was fabulous + the cottage absolutely super. Had everything we needed from a well stocked kitchen to a brilliant seating area that easily sat the 9 of us. We have already booked to return next year. Thank you so much Dylan and Tanya for this amazing accommodation. P.S. Had a brilliant Sunday lunch @ the Nag’s Head, Abercych.

Edwards (May ’07). Excellent ! The standard by which all other cottages will now have to live up to.

Ferrig family (May ’07). It rained solidly but the amazing house + facilities made our holiday special – really somewhere you don’t mind being ‘marooned’ in! Excellent venue for a family get together – already considering my mum’s 60th in a few years in August (price permitting and if able to get everyone up to Cardigan). The best self catering ever ! P.S. Nags Head was cracking Sunday lunch.

Jonathan, Stev, Val, Rich, Gemma and Ross (June ’07). Fantastic comfortable cottage. Lovely weather. Not many fish although persistence produced a small sewin. Coracle fishermen fascinatingly mysterious and colourful (one is 85years old!). Recommend Nags Head, Abercych for Sunday lunch (but not mid week). Cardigan is a good and enjoyable 5 -6 mile walk down the river and through the wildlife park etc (a lift back is recommended though). Worth taking time to watch the kingfishers and bats on the river. Lovely beaches at Newport (you can drive onto sands) and Newquay (watch for the dolphins from the quay).

9 adults & 3 children (baby, 2yr old & 7yr old) (June ’07). Fabulous cottage, weather not too good. Stairs not suitable for 2 yr old and an elderly relative. Folly Farm great value for money and also enjoyed Pemberton Chocolate Farm. Thank you – enjoyed the week!!!

Paul, Yvonne, Charllotte, Andrea, Scott & Ella (June ’07). Excellent cottage had fab time, except weather. Poppit Beach lovely for the dogs. Thanks.

Donna, John, Sharon, Aeron Mc Hale & Gem the dog and Carole, Barnard & Gary Clancy ( June / July ’07). Wonderful welcome. Cottage stunning and beautifully clean. Linen and beds all outstanding and luxurious. We have enjoyed our holiday with you, just sad and disappointed with the dreadful weather we’ve had.! Carpenters lived up to its reputation! We had to try it out of devilment but the moment we walked in the scowl from the landlady when she was out two (very well behaved + good mannered!) children, said it all!! Its so clean and lovely decor but no atmosphere whatsoever! We stayed for one very quick drink and made a hasty exit. To the Teall family (August) Hello All !! Must go to - - The Royal Indian, Cardigan estuary, take no notice of exterior, wonderful inside and fantastic Balti and that’s from us Brummies – service was exceptional and fab to sit on a boat ! - The Grovenor Pub, excellent meal lovely family atmosphere (go upstairs to all sit together) - The Ferry Inn – fantastic views of the river and lovely food, again warm welcome from staff only about 10 mins away towards Poppit Sands - Poppit Sands. Lovely, clean + local, small café in car park. - Newport Sands Beach – drive on, great for rock pooling, we found lobsters!!! - Llangrannog = small cove, prepare for a very hair raising journey 15 mins away down VERY thin lanes but lovely small pebbly beach with excellent café, fish + chip shop + pub all in a few feet of each other. Have a fantastic time + enjoy the weather for us! Donna + Co. x.

Levett family x 9 (July ’07). Lovely cottage, fantastic location. We have been visiting Pembrokeshire for many years and will definitely be back soon !! Had take -away from The Royal India – excellent. Ate out at Nags Head – highly recommended.

Garves and Holcombes ( July ’07). What a fantastic place to stay for 9 of us + dog. Weather was awful but the house certainly made up for it. Dodgy start –the Holcombes got stuck in floods off M5 so we had to manage with one car between us for journey home! .Would love to come back nest year – will watch web site for availability. Thanks for a lovely holiday. Catherine, Paul. Bill. George. Ruby, Martin, Rebecca, Sam, Mary and Jimmy. Xxx

Clenton, Joanne and Emma (Aug ’08). Beautiful accommodation. Really spacious and well stocked. Loved the games room and library really good idea. Best day out Heatherton country sports park. Great day for adults and teenagers. Loads to do, had to go back twice ! Horse riding really good value and stable and horses well kept. Would love to come again !!

Betty & Malcolm (Aug ’08). Beautiful house and courtyard, very quiet and relaxing. House has everything one could wish for and the video library and games room first class. So many lovely little beaches to visit and pubs to eat in. Had a super two days at Heatherton had to go back couldn’t get it all in, in one day. Would certainly like to return one day.

Becky, Jessica + Lauren (Aug ’08). Beautiful accommodation, lovely views of the river. Nice quiet relaxing area. The games room and video room is brilliant, the video collection PERFECT! Places to go are good best place is Heathertons, fabulous activities went twice! The people are wonderful and kind and we would love to come again. Tresaith beach is fab ! Will definitely come again ! Up The Villa.

Helen, Nigel, Tom, Alex & Megan Mullany. Andrew, Mags, Dan, Cat & Sarah Moor + friends ! (Aug ’08). Fantastic week, using all 4 houses to celebrate Grandpa’s 70th Birthday. Facilities superb. Fishing good, beaches, wine and lots of partying ! Going home for a rest.

The Field family (Sept ’07). We booked both this house and River cottage for a family get together – would definitely return to do the same thing ! River cottage is much more child friendly but his house had all our requirements. The staff here are wonderful, on arrival the manageress was lovely & the gardeners proved to be a good source of tourist information (local history & best pubs!). The cottages could of done with having their names displayed somewhere but apart from that Thank you for a most memorable holiday & we hope to see you all again. Xxx P.S. Yes stay away from the Carpenter’s Arms, they are not child friendly, dog friendly or even customer friendly !!!

Cravino + Wooster family (Sept ’07). Dinner at the Castle Hotel, within the grounds of the cottages is excellent – superb food, service + value for money. Worth a visit.

Lisa + Stuart Edwards (Sept ’07). Loved the cottage here on our Honeymoon – went on lots of long walks! Good weather most days. Beautiful location.

Mark, Sara, Sammy & Harry Morley and Graham, Kim & Joshua Hatch (Sept ’07). I thought the cottage was lovely, full of character and with all modern amenities (although the lounge is not the most toddler friendly). Manageress was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend Folly Farm for a good kids day out (and Newport Links for great golf).

Morgans, Mountfords & Griffiths ( Sept ‘07). What a fantastic cottage!! Had a wonderful weekend. Couldn’t fault anything at all. Diolch yn Fawr! Will definitely return for another fab week or weekend – ideal for adults + children – a great family holiday. Many thanks !

Pete + Debbie Masters (& Sally & Ted !- Shenauzers). (Oct ‘07)A superb place to stay. We will definitely be coming back next October, but it will have to be this house. A unique location that we will not tell too many people about!

Jo & Gian Sparagna (Oct ’07). A beautiful place to stay in beautiful surroundings. Whitesands beach at St. Davids was beautiful. We would love to come back with a larger group !

Jennifer & Roddy Jubb + Ruby ( Standard Poodle). Mathew, Bethan, Heledd, Gwenno & Mared Jubb. (Oct / Nov ’07). We have had a wonderful ‘Indian Summer’ this week. “Season of mists & mellow fruitfulness + lots more. We visited in June and again wonderful weather we had. The cottage is fabulous again many thanks. We will return next year hopefully.

Peter Jarret & Fiona Adams. (Nov ’07). Fantastic cottage, really enjoyed our stay. Many thanks! Nags Head food great as previously mentioned ….we didn’t risk the Carpenter’s Arms !

Sarah + Phil (Nov ’07). Had a relaxing stay here at Courtyard cottage. Accommodation first class! Next time will bring the whole family!! Had great days out at Tenby and St Davids, enjoyed the interesting café at St David’s Cathedral!! Thanks.

Paul, Stacey, George and Henry. (Nov ’07). Had a relaxing time, everything you need is here and best of all, no mobile phone signal!!! Great walks and fantastic beaches just a short distance drive away. Already looking forward to coming back in the summer 08!! Thanks.

Nicky,Tim + Bertie the dog. (Nov ’07). Excellent accommodation in a beautiful setting. Thank you.

Caroline, Alan, Ian, Claire with Holly + Bi-ss (labs). Jeremy, Heather + Sophie. (Nov ’07). Lovely riverside house, full of charm, all we needed for our weekend away. Food good at Nags Head but beware of over eager food-loving cats. Many thanks to the cleaners who left it spotless for our arrival.

Jan & Barry (Dec ’07). Fantastic house, amazing setting & facilities. Great for a get together will definitely be back for a summer visit.

Paula, Nigel, Kelly Slade, Rebecca Chambers (Dec ’07). We all had a fantastic weekend, great location & beautiful house, lots of lovely memories to take home. Best family get – together I could wish for – Happy Days XX.

Gary & Kelly et al. (Dec ’07). Weather was miserable, floods throughout Wales, river was in danger of breaching its banks. We had an absolutely fab time, we came to get away for a nice weekend & we definitely managed it. Booked out 3 of the cottages for a party & it worked fantastically, we’ll definitely be back.
