Evans + McDonnells. Jan ’08. Spent a relaxing and pleasurable short break here. Living / dining area ideal for a get together for all the family. Youngsters enjoyed the Games room, adults enjoyed the peace and quiet! Local walks great !
Chris and Claire Fenwick. Jan ’08. Great place for entertaining friends. Recommend a visit to Aberaron, The Harbour Master Restaurant (at end of Quay) lovely. Perfect winter retreat. P.S The Carpenters Arms doesn’t allow dogs. Thanks for a great stay.
Holly’s Hen Party. Feb ’08. Fantastic place to stay, we have really enjoyed it. Nolton Stables which is one hour away is excellent and well worth a visit for beach rides. Thank you very much!
Charlotte Richards. Feb ’08. “I like the bed with the curtains and the star aswel”
George Pritchard. Feb ’08. An absolutely superb place! I really enjoyed the stay and loved the atmosphere and location of the place. Lee was very helpful and informative. Thank you for a brilliant visit, I hope to come back soon. Thank you again!
Tina Boulls. Feb ’08. A wonderful venue for a family get together. The facilities are excellent. The kitchen has the largest collection of cutlery + crockery required for a huge party. Lee looked after us well, friendly and helpful.
The Richards family + Boulls + Pritchard + Hooper. Feb ’08. A truly fantastic place to stay – excellent to celebrate a large family and friend’s birthday. The weather for the first 5 days simply stunning. House was beautifully clean on arrival & Lee was very helpful. We even saw an otter catch a salmon – right out the back through the lounge window !!! Well managed & well equipped large country home. Thank you.
The Mc Carthy Family: Alison, Kev, George (3) and Eleanor (10 months). March’08. What a fabulous house ! (Thanks for the upgrade!)We have had a lovely week exploring the beaches, Mwnt and Penbryn were exceptional. We had a lovely lunch at Hotel Panralt, on the road to Abreporth. It’s a wonderful place to stay, George enjoyed exploring all the cupboards but we had to have a lot of rules! Its quite dangerous in places, especially for a 3 yr old boy that likes to charge around. A good time was had by all, and the sofas are fab!! Thank you.
Dave and Vicky. March ’08. What could have been a washed out, stormy week turned out to be a wonderful break. We managed to get out walking every day. The Courtyard IS a gorgeous building to stay in. With just 2 of us we thought we might rattle around but instead we found it cosy and very comfortable. We would like to return next year with our parents. Thank you.
Dave & Sue + 17 friends in C’yard & Secret Cottage. 28th March -4th April’08. An excellent place to celebrate 60 years alive. Secret and Courtyard are both excellent. All our friends were impressed with the excellent cottages. The kitchen is excellent. Contrary to some previous guests we were made very welcome at the Carpenter’s Arms – they even put the TV on for us. Form your own opinions – its worth a visit. The welcome at the village shop was very warm. Thanks very much – I hope we will be back!
Sofia Chowdry. April ’08. Very unfriendly for your children. The upstairs bit when you go on the landing is scary. Location lovely, comfy beds. Very clean. Tub chair is fab. Fantastic walks & days out. Saw lots of birds. Loads of good cutlery. Very relaxing. Superb beach and pointless drops. Very annoying when we got stuck outside, so all in all a FAB holiday. Mrs. Naomi Condron. What more can I say! After the initial surprise of how unfriendly the house was for toddlers had subsided and after a little re-arranging of some furniture we all had a truly wonderful holiday. The house is gorgeous and very well equipped. We’ve had excellent days out and walks along the river. This whole area is beautiful and full of things to do and places to go. Just a couple of suggestions to make things even better – a couple of custom made stairgates would be very helpful for visitors with young children, a slightly sturdier railing on the landing and finally the 4’ drop in the lounge could be made safer. All 10 of us had a brilliant holiday – Thank you. P.S. Fantastic games room!
Kerry’s Hen party (11). April’08 Thanks very much for a really lovely stay – spotless on arrival, beautiful house (amazing bed linen!), perfect for a big group. The lounge is brilliant. Caws Cenarth is well worth a visit, as is Mwnt. Excellent food at the Nag’s Head. Thanks again!
Mark + Sally Embry. May ’08. Wonderful accommodation and location. We shall be back! Thanks very much for making our stay so enjoyable. Seven Stars is better than the Carpenter’s Arms.
The Davis Family plus one! May ’08. Thank you very much for a great week. Weather made it even better. Mwnt beach is worth a visit on a hot day. Friendly atmosphere in the Seven Stars, Carpenter’s Arms is terrible! The BBQ in the barn over the Courtyard is a hidden gem!
Howard and Carolyn Davis. May’08. The 9 of us enjoyed a fabulous week of fantastic weather. The house was so warm & welcoming after a long trip here and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is so well stocked & we made regular use of the picnic plates and barby. The landlady at the Seven Stars ensured our return with free cocktails on our first evening!! Slept like logs on the lovely comfy beds & so quiet. Will be back. THANKS. X.
Klimacks & extended family. May ’08. Yet again we have had a lovely week despite the rain, especially the birdwatchers. With our “Secret” friends there were 15 and the Grosvenor catered for us easily + with excellent food. Highlight was again all the seals + dolphins seen from the Coastal Path. We’ll definitely be back for a fourth visit.
Aspell-Clarks family. June ’08. Wonderful area especially the river we over look where the dogs all learnt to swim! Many balls lost in the process! Few nigles, there were men working on the roof 2 days which although they weren’t deliberately noisy we were disturbed by them as we tried to relax. Also the “only outgoing” phone rang one day and woke us both up from snoozing!
Note from Owners: We have never scheduled planned restoration work at the cottages whilst they are occupied by guests. The “builders” referred to were ‘English Heritage’ and ‘CADW’ craftsmen who were replacing the lead work above one of the windows on a nearby cottage in the courtyard. This conservation work was urgent and essential to seal a leak; it was not noisy work and only occurred between 10am and 4pm for 2 days of the week. With regards to the phone, whilst the numbers are ex – directory, we cannot guard against the rare occurrence of an unsolicited call.
Vicky and Family, June ’08. 12 of us decided to come to Wales for a unique relaxed weekend. Courtyard House definitely exceeded expectations. Very spacious & everything provided for. Recommendations would be Aberporth beach, Laser Combat at Cenarth Games & a walk down the Secret path along the cottage. The Surgery was a great place to eat. Definitely will be back for some more Cottage Carnage & highly recommend to others.
Note from Owners: Whilst we sincerely hope that our guests enjoy their stay with us, we were very disappointed with the condition that this cottage was left in. We do not appreciate “cottage carnage” (your words) from out guests. Regrettably we will be unable to welcome these guests back. Tanya & Dylan.
The Leaf Family. July ’08. Lovely holiday, location superb. River – fantastic for the dogs who took every opportunity to go for a splash. Weather was lovely all week which made the coastal walks (Dinas Head in particular) even more spectacular.
Conron Family. August ’08. Excellent accommodation with everything that we needed. We all had a superb week but only caught eels & 1 small sea trout when fishing in the river. For the little ones a good day out is Folly Farm but avoid Dyfed Shires Leisure Park – its NAFF!!! Lovely beaches within easy driving distance. Flat Roch Restaurant is excellent. Cliff Hotel Spar at Gwbert is lovely for grown ups
Loveday + Taylor Family. August ’08. Weather wasn’t very good but we still had a good time, the beaches were good. Oakwood was a good day out, but not very good for young children. The house was lovely. Thank you. I enjoyed the carousel at Folly Farm (better for younger children). The beaches were lovely, very clean. Good time was had by all. Amelia age 4. Otter spotted in river by bridge!
Sally Hanley. Aug ’08. Beautiful cottage. Very welcoming on arrival. Fantastic Games room. Had a lovely time – p.s. a jug may be a useful addition to the kitchen.
