We have included every comment from our visitor's book - without any editing.
The cottages were closed between November 2005 and December 2006 for major restoration work. Thank you all for your kind comments. We are delighted to see that you have enjoyed your time in Pembrokeshire, and particularly at the Pembrokeshire Courtyard Holiday Cottages.
Suzy & Dave Hughes (December 2006). Absolutely fantastic cottage! Far exceeded the high expectations we had from the website – felt a bit selfish having the whole place to ourselves. The walk by the river is beautiful, and both Poppit and Mwnt beach are breathtaking( even at this time of year). A really relaxing break for which we were both in need. Thank you Dylan & Tanya. Suzy and Dave x.
Alexandra Ross and Alastair Thardishy (December 2006). The otters & the dolphins were all hiding, but still had a lovely week. The walk along the river is lovely but also very wet at this time of year. Very impressed by the cottage – will recommend it highly.
Sally, Greg & Alistair Trusselle (December 2006). Outstanding cottage ! “As above for seals + dolphins but Mwnt definitely worth a visit ! Brilliant honeymoon!
Lisa + Mark, Billy + Charlie, (December 2006). The perfect place to spend Christmas! The cottage is fantastic and the locals are friendly and the river walk is great. Poppit sand beach was a favourite with Billy + Charlie, the beagles, and 40 mins away is white sands beach (at St Davids) which is well worth a visit, very pretty and also good fun watching all the surfers! Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to everybody! Thank you Tanya + Dylan !
Steve & Tania, Maximus & Tia the dogs ( New Year Jan 07). Absolutely perfect!! Thank you. Further comments on guest questionnaire – ‘A real home form home. We stay in cottages2 -3 times per year all over the UK, without doubt the ‘Clocktower’ is the best we have stayed in’.
Rob + Sonia, Buster + Bailey (Jan 2007). We have had a lovely 29th wedding anniversary despite the weather. So nice to come home to a lovely warm welcoming cottage. Thank you!
Meurig, Hayley & Seren Bach (the dog), (Jan 2007). Absolutely fantastic place. Even the weather was good for this time of year. Enjoyed river walks and Poppit Sands. Apart from our daily walks we just relaxed in comfort in the cottage and there was enough entertainment provided here to make it a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Thank you so much, you should definitely be proud! We’ll definitely return! Thanks again.
Mr & Mrs. Ballantyne (Jan 2007). Brilliant place to stay when wanting to get away from the world – A visit to the sweet shop in Cardigan is a must. Thanks for a relaxing Honeymoon. X.
Mary Whooley + Emma Stone (Jan 2007). The cottage itself and all the surroundings made for a perfect way to celebrate being 40. Peaceful, relaxing + romantic. A wonderful place all round. Ideal for visiting lots of different places in the area. Walk to Cilgerran is fantastic – wrens, woodpeckers + beautiful river views. Going home to tell my family all about it ! Expect some more Cornish visitors anytime soon.
Helen & Simon Bingham (Feb 2007). We had a wonderful weekend, what a stunning cottage, beautifully & sympathetically restored. The weather has been glorious & the scenery breathtaking. We will be back!
Charlotte, Tony & Morgan (golden retriever) (Feb 2007). Thank you Tanya + Dylan for understanding dogs + their owners need a bit of luxury too ! Beautiful cottage in a beautiful bit of Wales. Visit the Pendre Inn (nr. Cilgerran) for a warm welcome for Doggies !
The Cudmores, Annie, Alice, Tom & Ella (Feb 2007). These are lovely cottages – we’ve had a happy week with our grandparents in Secret cottage. We’ve had wild weather on the cliff path at Ceibwr Bay, where we spotted dolphins, and almost balmy sunshine on Poppit Sands, after arriving in snow last week. We had a grotty meal at the Nag’s Head, Abercych (wouldn’t recommend it) but delicious lunch in St. David’s Cathedral Refectory. A luxurious Jacuzzi is a treat for us all !
Rebecca Walberg, Rebecca Holday & Maggie the dog (Feb 2007). The cottage was fantastic. We had the most relaxing weekend. Poppit Sands was fun. The Ferry Inn in St Dogmaels is great and dog friendly. Very strange meal at the Castell Malgwyn Hotel. Would recommend the cottages to all.
March 2007 –Closed for restoration work on the exterior Clocktower and Clock face.
Sarah & Jon O’Brien, Debra & Stephen Grant & Rocky the dog (April 2007). The cottage was amazing and has been restored to a very high standard, all the mod cons and facilities we needed for a great short break (especially the table tennis & video library). We had the most glorious weather (for an Easter weekend) and visited Poppit Sands and Tresaith, which were both great for the dog and the beautiful scenery. The riverside walk through the woods is a great way to relax at any time of the day and is very pretty and serene, you can walk for miles and not see another soul. We would highly recommend the food and service at Castell Malgwyn (next door) it was probably one of the best meals we have ever had !!! If you are staying here, below is our top five things you must do: 1. Visit Poppit Sands, 2. Enjoy the Jacuzzi. 3. Walk as far along the river as you can, 4. Have a meal at Castell Malgwyn, 5. Spend an evening in the cottage by the fire.
Rob, Jen, Dan, Joe & Molly (April 2007). Loved the cottage, setting & local people very engaging. Ferry Inn great food & friendly landlord. Poppit Sands beach lovely. Views from Mwnt fantastic. Folder is broken & too much info – would be helpful for some easier guides to places of interest. Overall a great property & location – (weather was very kind) and enjoyed stay.
Rich, Maryanne, Sophie, Oliver & Miller (April 2007). We echo all the previous comments about the cottage – wonderful and relaxing (once the noisy rabble in the other cottages had gone home – a big family party every night!). Location is fabulous – we can also recommend Parrog and Newport – great café @ Parrog. Beautiful walk by the river at Cenarth Falls. Our top tip – for ‘out of season’ (though we didn’t think it was still out of season) check before you go – shires, quad biking place, Y Felin Mill café & wildlife café @ Cilgerran all closed despite leaflets saying otherwise! Never mind, spirits undaunted, back to the beach…
Gail, Paul & Sue (April 2007). We loved it ! Great cottage, comfortable & welcoming. Recommend walk at Newport, bit of everything, lovely beach & a quiet, quaint village. New Quay, nice harbour village, full of colour & character. Had a nice river walk at Cenarth, good cheap breakfast there. Our last night had lovely meal at Carpenters Arms – very filling & reasonably priced. Driving along the coast road found some little Gems lots of hidden coves.
Mark + Liz Reeves – Davies (April / May ’07). We spent ages on the internet searching for somewhere special to spend our Honeymoon – the site gave an excellent idea / impression of these cottages. We have loved our stay here and reallt appreciate the care and attention that has been given to the Courtyard. We had a warm welcome here !! Love sitting outside and being next to the river. Cleanliness + facilities in cottage fantastic. We found Llechryd to be cntral to many lovely places and got to see seals + dolphins!!!(finally). Would love to come back sometime in the future and enjoy some more (thanks for the guided tour Tanya – we will prob try out all the others in turn). Thanks for the welcome. Liz +Mark.
Toby + Lucy Lee (May ’07). Lovely cottage in a great setting. We’d recommend Poppit Sands, Mwnt and the Nags Head. Many Thanks. Toby.
Bob, Karen, Betty, Sally & Sam ( May ’07). Great cottage, main bedroom and bathroom are fantastic. Excellent choice of videos. Shame the weather wasn’t great and sturdy shoes required for river walk but worth the visit. Local vet very helpful if you need them.
Paul & Sue Boden (June ’07). Superb, fantastic, wonderful, everything we hoped for and much much more. The holiday was a gift from our children to celebrate our 60th birthdays and our wedding anniversary (1-6-07). They could not have made a better choice. From the moment we arrived we felt at home and the greeting from Lee, with a bottle of wine to celebrate our anniversary was the icing on the cake. Many Thanks. Paul & Sue.
John, Jill & Jacob Taylor (June ’07). Beautiful cottage, spotless when we arrived and everything you need is here. If you are here with kids the Fantasy Farm Park is brilliant for them its at Llanrhystud, Aberystwyth – lots for them to do in a safe place. Poppit Sands is really really beautiful. Also Folly Farm is great for kids (leaflets are from the room where videos are). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cottages are in such a lovely location too. “Great holiday”. Thanks a lot, Johny, Jill & Jake.
Sam & Lydia Searchfield (June ’07). We had a fantastic week in the Clocktower cottage! It was supplied with everything you could possibly need and more. The master bedroom & bathroom were so much better than we expected and the woodburner in the living room was the ‘icing on the cake’. It was the perfect place to spend our honeymoon and we really appreciated the bottle of champagne that was left for us on our arrival. We look forward to coming back again ! Thanks a lot
Pearce’s ( June/ July). It rained + rained and then rained + rained. But …fun was had by all. We were very comfortable and loved staying here. The kids had lots of games to play + there was no end to the videos. We will be back. Thank you !
Damien & Emma Green (July ’07). Great cottage, very relaxing A1 Accommodation. Tenby is great to visit 30 mins drive. We will be back. Thank you Tanya.
Jill, Robert, Fae and grandparents (July ’07). Excellent cottage – would definitely return in the future. Great base for lots of good places – Cardigan is a nice little town. Camarthen is a bit bigger with all the national shops and Tenby is between the two – good fish + chips at Feccis in Tenby. Scolton Manor well worth a visit (but give the café a miss !). Brilliant place for coffee or an evening meal is at Newport – The Canteen – well worth the drive (approx 15 miles) but its very, very busy at night so might be worth booking.
Chris, Neil, Nathan, James & Jessica Oxborrow ( July ’07). Lovely stay – floods all around us & across the country! River v. swollen & sad not to see the otters but saw dolphins in Mwnt bay so happy enough! Clocktower spotless & beautiful as ever esp with new renovations. Lucky to have neighbours with kids so come rain or shine something to keep them occupied when not out at beach (lucky to get 5 days!) or elsewhere. When not too muddy walk along river is lovely, loads of birds & wildlife, castle at other end worth a visit + nice pub and garden in village. Mwnt definitely our fav. Beach – we will return ! Thanks Dylan & Tanya for sorting us out – Lee was great, really friendly & helpful. Chris & Neil.
The Shilling family (Aug ’07). Great weather, lovely cottage – Mwnt best place to see dolphins – beautiful coastal walks.
Jo, Ollie (4) & Ed (14) Laidlow ( Aug ’07). What an amazing place ! The Clocktower is truly spectacular, right down to the finest detail. We received a very warm welcome when we arrived. We will definitely be coming back to The Courtyard. Thank you.
John and Mary Moore and family and Freddie the springer ( Aug ’07). A perfect place to celebrate my 70th birthday with all (or most) of my family. We took all four cottages and relations came from Canada, Ireland, France and England. 41 sat down to dinner in cruciform layout in the Courtyard ~ some were staying in the hotel. We caught a few trout – well, nearer whitebait than trout. Good walking – we will be back for my 80th in 2017 with a few more grandchildren than the nine so far.
John, Dee & Nishka (Sept ’07). Thank you ~ great place to stay in this beautiful part of Wales. Will definitely recommend to friends.
Louise & Lee (Sept ’07). Lovely place to spend our Honeymoon. This part of Wales is beautiful, but the narrow little roads are a bit scary ! Loved sitting outside in the Courtyard watching the bats fly round! Poppit Sands is really beautiful. And the very best place to eat is the Nags Head – you MUST go. The food is out of this world – try the steak.
Adrian, Stella, Catherine 3¾ and Ivan 23 months ( Sept ’07). We have had a wonderful week in TICK TOCK cottage (that’s all that Ivan could say everytime we pulled into the drive…). The pictures on the web don’t do it justice, it has been a verty comfortable home from home. We have really enjoyed Castell Henlys Iron Age Fort, Folly Farm fantastic for our age kiddies and the National Botanic Gardens nr. Camarthen are really well worth the journey. Our recommendation for food would be the Canteen at Newport, very friendly, great food and very reasonably priced. Our favourite beach was Mwnt, but Tenby was also fantastic, its more like 45 mins drive and not 30 as someone else suggested!!
Lisa & Stuart Edwards (Sept ’07). We have had a great week – the cottage is beautiful and is in a great location. Lots of great walks from the door or just a few miles away by the car. Hope to return soon.
Maggie & Owen Bistow (Sept ’07). A week that lived up to our hopes and expectations & more so. The weather was good & the dogs have had a fantastic time with woodland walks & Poppit beach was doggy heaven ! Not enough time to explore all we would have liked to, so we will be back!
Ian & Jackie Offer (Oct ’07). Excellent, thoroughly recommended. Very clean & comfortable. Weather very good for October.
Suzanne, Mark, Olivia (2.5), Charlie (3mnths) and Henry the dog. (Oct ’07). Fantastic property we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Recommend visits to Mwnt and Poppit Sands as fantastic for Henry Dog + only minutes away. Folly Farm well worth the 40 minute journey as are Tenby & Saundersfoot beaches. Don’t want to leave & will be booking for next year ! P.S. Turn off the heating early and make full use of the log fire !
Sally, Martin, George + Izzy Bentley (Oct ’07). Had a lovely relaxing long weekend. Followed the recommendations in this book and went to Poppit Sands, Mwnt (where we saw a seal basking in the sun). Very impressed with Tenby and its lovely beaches – well worth the trip ! We will definitely be back !
Gill, Adrian, Sophie Wilson + 2 springers ( Oct ’07). Thoroughly relaxing week. Great holiday home! Weather was kind too! Mwnt is the best beach – not forgetting Llangrannog and Whitesands. Two very happy dogs who’ve run more miles than we’ve walked.
Liz + Tony Williamson (Nov ’07). Fantastic week weather brilliant for time of year. Echo all that has been previously written about the cottage. Our favourite walks – Around Dinas Island with surrounding idyllic coves totally unspoilt. Cwm – yr – Eglwys is a very sheltered bay where you can choose to walk on round Dinas Head to Pwllgwaelod (good place for refreshments). Excellent walking around Ceibwr Bay & going south Llangranog area, though many of coastal paths not yet open or linked up . Need to come back next year to check progress. We had an excellent Sunday lunch at The Ferry Inn in St. Dogmaels. An ideal situation with river walks & coastal paths.
Vanessa + Ross (Nov’07). Its been a lovely few days weather perfect, the autumn colours are amazing, managed part of the coastal path from Poppit Sands to Newport Bay (not for the faint hearted). Next time Oscar our Red Setter will definitely be coming to stay! Don’t want to go home.
Annabel, Ross and Eddie Percy – Hughes and Ruby the dog. (Nov’07). Your website did a great job of portraying the excellent standard of the Clocktower Cottage, but it couldn’t totally prepare us for the overwhelming feeling you get as you get as you walk through it (and especially up the stairs to the bathroom / bedroom!) – ITS BEAUTIFUL! The setting is also lovely and tranquil and is an ideal base, not only for exploring the Pembrokeshire Coast, but also the rugged Ceredigion coastal parts. Ruby the dog couldn’t believe how brilliant the beaches nearby are – she has turned into a proper beach bum ! We wanted to make the most of the cottages in the evening so we had a great takeaway from the Royal India (menu in the Coach House….). Also for chocolate shop / tea room in Fishguard – next to the gallery. Thanks Tanya + Dylan.
Emily + Conor (Nov’07). Had an amazing time. Cottage is just beautiful & really relaxing. We couldn’t have asked or wished for more. Thank you.
Sarah James (Nov ’07). Had a great time, the photos on the web site don’t do this place justice at all - the place is amazing, would come again !! Thank you.
